Research due for Tomb Raider 9

Posted by Laras Babe on August 15, 2009 at 2:17 PM Comments comments (0)

Nomedo, a guy a from Tomb Raider Forums has found a very interesting document on Eidos and Square to research how we play them. This will help Square and Eidos make the next game.

"The suite is an instrumentation system which is designed to record game metrics from EIDOS games in production and post-launch. Data from the games is extracted from the SQL server system and preprocessed. The dataset used for the experiments report contain live data, i.e. data from people playing the finished, published version of Tomb Raider Underworld in their natural habitats." The data is then used to analyse the playing habits of gamers.

"A variety of different playing characteristics (game metrics) are collected for internal analysis work carried out by Crystal Dynamics. Several gameplay features are logged for each player, such as the completion time of each game level, the number of times the player died, as well as the 3D coordinates of the player."

What do you think of that?

Peyton list could play Lara in third movie

Posted by Laras Babe on August 6, 2009 at 4:03 AM Comments comments (0)

The latest batch of rumors on the Hollywood reboot of Lara Croft’s origins is not only attaching an actress to the lead role, but is also naming the director that will bring Tomb Raider back to the big screen.

An anonymous tipster from Lin Pictures (the production company behind the film) has spilled some details on the upcoming film, a user on Tomb Raider Forums has claimed. The mole puts it that TV actress Peyton List (Smallville, One Tree Hill, Big Shots) has been chosen to portray a younger Lara Croft. List is also set to play the character of Nicole in ABC’s new anticipated series, Flash Forward.

Meanwhile, Academy Award-nominated director Alfonso Cuaron, the manbehind the film adaptation of Harry Potter: The Prisoner of Azkaban andThe Children of Men, is now also rumored to take on the directingresponsibilities for the film.

Cuaron has shown time and time again his talent for translating dark themes into visual wonders, and if OPM UK’s take on Tomb Raider IX possibly being like “Siren meets Uncharted”— and if the Hollywood reboot does turn out to be a tie-in with theupcoming game, then certainly we’ve a match made in heaven. It doessound too good to be true, so we’re trying to keep our hopes andexcitement in check.

We await Lin Pictures’ comment on the matter if they’ve any to impart. Definitely more on this as it develops, if it does.
